Guiseley, Rawdon, Otley, Yeadon, Horsforth and Adel to be hit by funds move
7:10am Friday 30th July 2010

Communities in Wharfedale, Horsforth and Aireborough will have less money available over the coming year, following a shake-up by Leeds City Council.
The council’s executive board has approved plans to change the way £3m of Well-Being Fund money is shared out across the city, to ensure more is spent on the most deprived areas.
The change means the Outer North West Area Committee – which covers the four wards of Guiseley and Rawdon, Otley and Yeadon, Horsforth and Adel and Wharfedale – will receive £20,500 less per year to help with things such as carnival grants or CCTV cameras.
Otley and Yeadon ward councillor Colin Campbell (Lib Dem) is one of a number of councillors who have condemned the move and accused the Labour-controlled local authority of playing “postcode politics”.
But the city council insists it is simply a “moderate way” of redistributing some funds to help those communities who are most in need.
